One of the most surprising playoff teams are the Cleveland Browns and they’re right in the thick of the AFC Playoff race. They’re the 5th seed right now and if the season ended today, they’d play the Jags in the playoffs (ESPN playoff standings). This team has had 4 starting quarterbacks this year but they’re still 9-5. After Deshaun Watson got hurt, we all thought they were done but 38 year old Joe Flacco has taken the reign in the last couple of games and they’re in a great position with 3 games left.
Cleveland’s game with the Texans is enormous this Sunday and has massive playoff implications. The Browns need to stay a game ahead and a loss could make things difficult for them. This has been an incredible season for the Browns and a lot of players have stepped up. After Nick Chubb suffered a terrible injury, Jerome Ford took on the majority of the work and is excelling at the running back position. Their superstar players might be gone but it hasn’t stopped Kevin Stefanski from having a successful season. The Browns defense has allowed the least passing yards, they have the best 3rd down defense, and they’ve allowed the least amount of yards a game which just goes to show the defense is the identity of the team (FOX SPORTS defense rankings). Myles Garrett is 7th in the NFL in sacks with 13 and his leadership has made th Browns one of the best defense (ESPN player defense stats). They have that fighting spirit about them and it’s a very skilled group of players. The Browns last 3 games are Texans, Jets, and Bengals in order so if they win two of those, I think they’ll make the playoffs. The Texans and Bengals are both 8-6 so the Browns need good performances from everyone to hopefully bring playoff football to Cleveland.
