NFL 23-24 AFC Divisional Round Review- Heartbreak for Buffalo as Bills fall to Chiefs

It was another Bills vs Chiefs playoff game and this one was a classic which went down to the final kick. It was a seesaw game between these two great football teams and another outstanding quarterback duel. It went down to the wire and the Chiefs won because of a late missed field goal attempt by Tyler Bass in the howling Buffalo wind. The Bills fell at the hands of the Chiefs once again and Kansas City will travel to Baltimore next weekend to face the top seed Ravens.

Every time we seem to count out the Chiefs, they put up a performance like this on the biggest stage. People said all week, myself included, that it’s Mahomes’ 1st road playoff game and being away from Arrowhead will be their downfall but Kansas City played a stellar game at Highmark Stadium. Even without all the weapons they had in previous years, this team hits a new gear in the playoffs and they’ll play in a 6th consecutive AFC Championship game. It’s not the flashy Chiefs but they’ve adopted a new DNA and now they can run the football along with shutting the opponent down on defense. Pacheco had 97 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts which shows you that the Chiefs are really committed to running the ball. It used to be the Kelce and Hill exhibition but they play like a complete team now and they’re more well rounded. They hung in the game and really locked down Buffalo in the 2nd half. The defense made some good plays and they were incredible in the 4th quarter. They play another mobile quarterback in Lamar Jackson and Steve Spagnuolo’s defense needs another strong performance. It was a thoroughly deserved win for Andy Reid’s team and they’ll be looking to get to the Super Bowl to defend their title.

It was a tough end to the season for Josh Allen and it’s another year in which the Bills can’t win the Super Bowl. They were extremely good for most of the game but the 4th quarter wasn’t one of their best and that’s when the Chiefs capitalized. They couldn’t play the complete 60 minutes and that’s why they lost. In their last drive, Allen’s offense could’ve gotten closer and the 44 yard field goal wasn’t ideal. It was one Bass probably should’ve made but it was a windy night and that pressure was too much for Bass. For Stefon Diggs, he didn’t show up when Buffalo needed him and he finished with a disappointing 3 receptions and 21 receiving yards. He is their star but he couldn’t get going and it was not a good game for their talented receiver. I thought they ran the football well and they moved Kansas City’s defense around. It hurts to lose to the Chiefs again but Buffalo played good for the most part and they nearly beat the defending champs. They need to take that next step in the upcoming season and they have to find a way to take down the big boys in the big moments.

This game was as advertised and another thriller between these two teams. The rivalry is at its peak and these games will be a lot of fun down the road. It never gets old between Allen and Mahomes and they always put on a show for us. The Bills couldn’t get the job done at home and the Chiefs sat the Bills Mafia down in an amazing Sunday Night game. What changes will the Bills make in the offseason? How will the Chiefs fare against the Ravens next weekend? Final Score- Chiefs 27-24 Bills
