Two teams who are both in the top 5 in the league square off on a Monday afternoon from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea just got a narrow win at Anfield, the home of the champions while the Toffees also closely beat West Brom from a late 65th minute at Richarlison. Both teams are in great form and can score goals in big matches to lead their teams to important wins. Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel faces Everton’s Carlo Ancelotti as these teams are point split from each other.
Let’s talk about the Toffees striker Richarlison first. He had a big scoring drought a few games ago but has now scored in each of his last 4 games. The last two were game winning goals and the one vs Liverpool was a momentum giver. He is finding his scoring boots which benefits his whole team a great deal. Another one of their strikers who is having an upscale season is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He has 13 goals and can score goals out of thin air. These two players lead Everton to wins and are capable of pulling off anything really. Everton’s midfielders must step up a little more in attacking and scoring goals, it can’t always be the front two. They have to do a little more to assist the defense as well as the forward two men. Also, for the defense they have to be careful not to let Chelsea behind their back on a quick counter. The Blues have Mount, Giroud, Ziyech, Pulisic, and Werner who can all break away quickly and score. Everton are slight underdogs in this game but I’d say they have the team to upset Chelsea.
Like I mentioned above, these 5 attacking players for Chelsea have been the goalscorers. They work very well together which has brought up this team to 4th place after not the best start of the season. That win at Liverpool was huge for them. It was an important win against a team that was struggling and it proved that they can win in big situations. The Chelsea back 3 or 4 have to be pinpoint or else Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison will make them pay. They need to clear it when they can and not give the ball away in their own half. One of the ways to beat Everton is to eliminate those two from the game but that will be hard so they can’t give up after a while. Tuchel must be happy with his team and will be even happier if they can beat the other team from Merseyside, Everton.
I believe Everton will win 2-0. They have got all their players back from injury and are a healthy team which is great. They are in 5th place currently and are close to getting a Champions League spot. I just feel Chelsea won’t be able to produce that many chances and the Toffees defense will do an efficient job. They have been playing well and can stop this amazing Chelsea front line. I have a very strong feeling Chelsea will lose this game and drop down to 5th place in the table.
Can the Blues continue being phenomenal with the former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel in this one or will Everton climb into 4th place in hope of Champions League? We will find out on a Monday early afternoon from Stamford Bridge.
