The last match of the season for both these clubs and it is a good one. The final of the UEFA Champions League between Premier League Champions Manchester City and 4th Place Chelsea. It is a battle between two English teams for the 4th time this season. These two clubs played each other a little less than 3 weeks ago and in that the Blues won 2-1. They also faced off in the FA Cup semi finals and in that game Hakim Ziyech had the game winning goal to send Chelsea to the final. On a Saturday afternoon from Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal.
Chelsea didn’t end their season great and will have to play perfect against City to win. They are 2-0 against City under Thomas Tuchel and this game is the most important out of all of them. They lost 2-1 to Villa along with a red card which is not good at all. I feel Werner is playing better and is fitting along nicely with this team. He is getting chances, space, and room to make moves and support his team. Unfortunately for him, the goal usually gets disallowed due to offsides. I also feel Mason Mount has been marvelous this year. He led this team for most of the campaign and they wouldn’t have been at this stage without him. Chelsea have so many playmakers on their team but have to attack City’s defense and not let them get comfortable at all.
City ended their season with a thrashing 5-0 home win against Everton and also lifted the trophy on that day. That is a confidence booster for them into this game as they are trying to get their 3rd trophy this season. If they win this, it will mean this season was absolutely perfect but if they don’t, there will still be a small hole they need to patch up. Aguero ended his season with a brace which will give him confidence as he will probably leave Manchester this summer. Ferran Torres is playing great and it will give Pep Guardiola more of a choice for the starting XI. They are a team full of super players and it is quite tough to get past them. This was probably the thing that they most focused on this season and it will be dissapointing if they lose to their fellow English team.
I believe Manchester City will win 2-1 in the Champions League Final. They will erase their two losses vs Chelsea recently and take their 3rd piece of silverware in the 2020-2021 season. They could put their 2nd lineup on the pitch and still win against a strong team. This team has so much depth and even injuries don’t affect them that much. The defense doesn’t make many mistakes and is usually amazing. Chelsea is also a very good club but City will top them in this game. It will be a close, competitive, and fun game from Portugal on Saturday at 3:00 PM EST.
This is the 3rd ever all- English Champions League final. This is Chelsea’s 2nd. Can Chelsea rob Manchester City and become champions of Europe or will Manchester City grab their 3rd trophy of the season with a win? We will find out very soon from the home of FC Porto.
