To get going Week 15 of the 2021-22 NFL Season, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs visit division rivals the Los Angeles Chargers at Sofi Stadium on Thursday Night Football. Two of the hottest AFC teams as of right now face off in Los Angeles,California as both of them are competing for the top spot in the division. It’s going to be a fun night between Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.
The Chiefs who’re on a six game winning streak have just erupted after starting the season 3-4. They smothered Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon 48-9 in a performance where the defense put on a show. They had 4 sacks, 4 fumbles, and an interception in that game. I’m sure Andy Reid was extremely happy with them and will be asking more of the same in this game against the Chargers. Also, an interesting fact is that the Chiefs have only given up 9 points per game in the last 3 games they’ve played. Even the offense played well in that game and were good on 3rd downs. They established a good run game and got three touchdowns off it in that ball game. They need to play exactly the same against a tough Chargers team.
The Chargers last week crushed the Giants in a really good performance by them. Justin Herbert keeps on getting better and has thrown the third most touchdowns in the NFL this year. His highlight reel play was the 55 yard+ touchdown throw to Jalen Guyton in the 2nd Quarter with less than 20 seconds on the clock. It was mind blowing and just shows what a good quarterback he can be. The football was perfectly thrown right onto the receiver’s gloves. I expect this offense to run over the Chiefs defense and put on another show at home. Brandon Staley and his team know how important this AFC West game is and they’re going to give it everything they have.
I believe the Kansas City Chiefs will win the game 30-27. This team is coming together and have improved so much from the beginning of the season to now. I think the defense is going to hold up and certainly pressure the Chargers quarterback. I definitely think Mahomes is going to play better than the last meeting between these two sides. This team over time has learned to run the football better and take what the defense is giving you. Mahomes has learned not to force deep balls but play the short balls to Kelce and Hill. They turn short passes into big gains which makes them so valuable to have as a quarterback.
On TNF, it’s a giant AFC West clash between the Chiefs and the Chargers. If the Chargers win, they’ll sweep the Chiefs in the season series and tie with them for the top spot in the division. Can Kansas City extend their winning streak to seven with a road win at the home of the upcoming Super Bowl or will the Los Angeles Chargers complete the double over the Chiefs to raise their playoff chances?
