NFL Player Performance- Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes

The two quarterbacks left standing in this season, battle for the 5th time in the Super Bowl. The series is tied 2-2 between these two legends and this is probably the last time they will play against each other. Tom Brady the G.O.A.T vs the rising superstar Patrick Mahomes.

Tom Brady started out the NFC Championship game amazing. His team was up by a lot but the second half wasn’t that great. Brady threw 280 yards which is pretty low for him. He also threw three interceptions on three straight drives and threw the football in a lot of traffic on those throws. His best throw of the game from my perspective is the 39 yard passing touchdown to Scotty Miller to end the 1st Half. He could have gone for 3 points and be safe but Brady is different. He threw it to the speedster in a points or nothing play and got 4 extra points before going into the locker room for halftime. That decision stunned me and I did not expect that. The second half he did not play that well. He threw into two men coverage which was very risky and that did not work. So overall, he made some decisions  but still played well and managed to reach his 10th Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes was dealing with a slight toe injury during the AFC Championship game against the Bills but still played how he usually does. No turnovers from him and he only got sacked once in this game. He threw 325 yards and for three touchdowns along with 5 rushing yards. Mahomes escaped the pressure and threw beautiful passes on the run. He is a playmaker and has magic in every play, like I’ve said before in my articles. He is so young and already playing in his 2nd Super Bowl which is pretty stunning.

This is a table comparing these two quarterbacks when they played against each other in Week 12 earlier in the NFL season. The Chiefs won the game 27-24 at Tampa Bay..

comparing the two quarterbacks stats when they met previously in the season.

As you can see, Mahomes had a huge game and this game he passed the most yards he had all season. Against one of the best defenses in the league, very impressive! Brady did not have his best day but still played well. These two meet one more time at the big stage. These two QBs are playing mind blowing football and really deserve to be at the Super Bowl.
