NHL Team Performance- Edmonton Oilers

One team stands out to me this season and they are from the North division, the Edmonton Oilers. They have so many talented players and it was a bummer that they lost to the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers last season. This season they are tied for 1st and I have a feeling they will be one of the top teams in the playoffs. They are a high scoring team and have a lot of strength to their team.

This team could have been towards the bottom of the division if it weren’t for Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. They are the players which the Oilers rely on and make them such a hard team to play against. These two are electrifying with the puck and have some good stickhandling combined with speed. McDavid was the 1st overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft  and since then, he has not disappointed anyone. In 385 career games, he has 183 goals and 346 assists which adds up to a total of 529 points, says NHL.com. The Oilers would simply be nothing without him. Draisaitl leads the Oilers in goals and assists after McDavid with 18 goals and 32 assists. He is the 2nd best player on this hockey team by far. This team’s energy and momentum comes from these two skilled players.

I believe the Oilers can contest the Maple Leafs for 1st place and win the division but they have to keep rolling and everyone has to be focused as they only have 22 games left. This team is a team which has the potential of getting stronger every year and is a rising squad in the league. Can Draisaitl and McDavid lead their team to the playoffs and continue being superb?

THE END
