NHL Team Performance- Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins are in the 3rd place in the East right now but have had setbacks due to a lot of injuries. It is kind of annoying when an important win gets shadowed by an injury/injuries. The Pens have got a lot of those this season.

Right now their injury list isn’t that bad as it used to be but Evegeni Malkin, Jason Zucker, Kasperi Kapanen, and Brandon Tanev, their four important players, are out of action due to injuries. Tanev is really good on the penalty kill and is a great player and could be available for Pittsburgh soon which will be superior for Mike Sullivan, the head coach of the Penguins. Zucker, their Minnesota Wild pickup will not be coming back any time soon which is not ideal for this team. Third, Kapanen who got injured on that Wednesday Night game against Buffalo was playing well in the last couple games. This injury is another game when an important win got rejected by an injury. Lastly, Malkin is a tough player to lose. He is an experienced NHL player and has led the Penguins to many Stanley Cup championships. Hopefully they can get him back soon as this East division is getting tight. These four players out of their 6 still on some sort of injury are players which affect the way this hockey team plays.

Some players who are having a good year for the Pens are Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust. Every year, Crosby plays so well and is always a menace for the opposing team. He has over 1000 career games played. He is quite productive for  his team when he is in the rink. He is probably going to get promoted into the hall of fame and is such a talented player. It is amazing to see what he does with the puck and how he magnificently scores. Next, Rust started his season well. He is on their top line and is one of the Pens’ best players. Letang and Guentzel are two more important Pittsburgh players and are Penguins royalty. These four players are very talented and I believe they will lead this team to the playoffs.

The Penguins have everything. Good players, plenty of wins, and consistency. Can they keep on hiking up the standings and limit the amount of injuries they receive? Can the 5 time Stanley Cup Champions pull another trick?

THE END

  1. The Penguins are looking strong as ever. I enjoyed your analysis (especially looking back at it). They’ve got all the good in terms of winning the Cup this season.
