After a long Premier League layoff, the 1st and the 3rd team square off at King Power Stadium in Leicester. Manchester City had success in the FA Cup and the Champions League recently and have moved on in both those other European competitions. Leicester City also had a win in the FA Cup with a hard working 3-1 win over Manchester United. City have a chance to slow the Cityzens down but that could lead a path for Leicester on Man United to follow. The next team closest to City is 14 points away so City have some breathing room.
Manchester City have been perfect in all competitions they play. Their play is hard to defend against and every one of their players is impactful. It will be a real challenge to prevent them from being the 2020-2021 Premier League Champions. The right backs come forward to attack and can deliver crosses from the wings. This season, they picked up Ruben Dias who has proven to be one of the best centre-backs in Europe and is in the top 5 best players of 2021 in Europe. He has scored a few goals and is playing really well currently. As the season is approaching the summer transfer months, Man City are looking at a few changes to their already magical squad. One player they are looking for is Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. Sergio Aguero will leave this summer so City need a new striker and Haaland is most likely going to be the replacement. The Norweigan is having an electrifying season and the Cityzens have the perfect use for him. He is looking to be a top prospect for Pep Guardiola’s team in this upcoming season.
Leicester City’s young striker from Nigeria, Kelechi Iheanacho has had probably the best last few games this year. He has scored in each of his last 3 PL games which includes a hat trick in the 5-0 home win vs Sheffield United. He also scored a brace (2 goals) in the deserved 3-1 win to Manchester United in the FA Cup. So overall, he is playing superbly and it will really help the Foxes if he can keep up his sensational form. Jamie Vardy is another player worth mentioning. Last season he won the league’s Golden Boot Award with 23 goals but this season has only 12 with 9 games left. City have the power to contest Man City for 1st but they need their mighty striker to do so. He is such a talented player and led this team to being champions in the 2015-16 right after the season where they finished 14th. I know he can lead the Foxes to another successful year in this English league.
I believe this major Premier League game will end up in a 2-2 draw. I feel very strongly that the front two Vardy and Iheanacho will play very well and can breach the City defense. City will be able to come back and avoid losing a game but will only end up getting a single point from this match. Leicester have good recent form in the last 5 games and will be able to at least get something out of this tough game. City will drop their guard the slightest bit and will be caught out which will give the Foxes the chance to score.
Both teams have magnificent teams and players so I’m excited to see where this game will go. Can Leicester City grab points from this important fixture in the calendar and surprise the 2018 champions or will Manchester City extend their lead with a win here?
