NHL Team Performance- Florida Panthers

This team from the Central Division is tied for 1st in the NHL and has a 4 game winning streak. The Florida Panthers are a team which probably nobody expected to be sitting in the top of the Central Division. They are tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning for most points in the NHL with 52 which seems pretty unbelievable.

Their two goalies Sergei Bobrovsky and Chris Drieger have been excellent. Of course both of them haven’t been as good as Andrei Vasilesky of the Lightning or Fleury of the Golden Knights but they’ve been good enough to lead the Panthers to wins. Both of them hold a save percentage over .900 which is ideal. They have to keep that up and continue leading the Florida Panthers to victories.

What I want the Panthers to keep in mind is keeping their players healthy and avoiding injuries. Injuries can setback a team so they have to stay healthy and consistent to stay in this race. This is an important stretch for them to keep their spot and not give it up to the Hurricanes and Lightning who are very close to them. They have to challenge Tampa Bay for the 1st spot of the division and have to give the playoffs to the Florida fans.Even if they do make it to the playoff with players on the injury list, they’re not going to stand a chance because they don’t have their star players on their lineup.

Two players who I think are having a great season recently are Jonathan Huberdeau and Carter Verhaeghe. Verhaeghe leads the team in goals with 17 and Huberdeau has the 2nd most amount of goals on the team with 14 along with the most assists with 24. He has the most points on the team and is such an electric player. Verhaeghe has 9 points in his last 4 games which includes a game vs the Stars in which he had a hat-trick and a single assist. Both of them have been on top form and once Aleksander Barkov comes back from injury which is soon, they will be amazing. Can the Florida Panthers take advantage and do well in a rare playoff appearance in which they are on the brink of coming to? All of Florida probably hopes so.

  1. This season has been a complete disaster for me with the realignment but I understand the reasoning behind it. I guess for fans who like seeing certain teams play their home teams it’s fun. What do you think of the realignment? I agree with you that most fans didn’t see the Panthers playing so well, but that’s one of the things I like about the NHL in that once teams make the playoffs, it’s a whole new season.
