2021-22 NFL Week 18 AFC Preview

The NFL season is on fire till now and the last week before the playoffs could bring surprises. There is a conference unclaimed, two playoff spots empty, and one division still up for grabs in the AFC. Week 18 could get interesting so get buckled for a great finale to the regular season.

The AFC took some major twists in Week 17 as Joe Burrow came back to win and clinch the division against the Chiefs. For the Chiefs, that was a blow to their conference hopes. Now the Titans are the 1st seed despite having the same record as Kansas City and have a chance to clinch the AFC Conference against the 4-12 Houston Texans. I expect Tennessee to take care of business against a Houston team that has had a pretty rough season. For the Wild Card spots, it seems like the Colts and the Chargers/Raiders will make the playoffs. Unless the Jags somehow beat Indy, it seems like the Colts and one of the AFC West teams are in.

My prediction for the final game of the 2021-22 NFL regular season which is a Sunday Night game between the Chargers and Raiders is 27-17 to Los Angeles. Kudos to the Raiders for making a push for the playoffs but the Charger’s offense is so much better than theirs. The Chargers have a double threat running back in Ekeler who can run and catch, have two great receivers in Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, and most importantly, have a quarterback they can rely on. Justin Herbert is a special player and I think he will outplay Derek Carr at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Herbert has the 3rd most passing yards in the league and he is making an MVP case in my opinion. If Las Vegas should win, they have to give Josh Jacobs the football and get yards on the ground. In the last few weeks, they’ve gotten Jacobs involved and have taken some off the load which was on Carr. My guess is that the Chargers will prevail in a giant AFC West duel and go to the postseason with the Colts.

Also the Bills and Patriots are fighting for the AFC East division title. The Bills host the NY Jets while the Pats visit Miami and the Dolphins. All the Bills have to do is win against Zack Wilson and they’ll clinch a 2nd consecutive division title. After their huge win in Foxborough against the Patriots, the Bills have fought back to potentially win their division. Josh Allen’s team will be a big threat in the playoffs as well as rookie Mac Jones’s New England team. Both of these teams have great seasons and look dangerous.

The AFC has great teams but a few teams are still looking to get their ticket to the two remaining spots in the postseason on the AFC side. Could we get another twist in the race before the playoffs actually begin?

 THE END
