The final Premier League meeting between Manchester City and Manchester United is here and this time the stakes are higher. Man United are losing grasp for 4th place as the results have just not been there for Rangnick’s side. Manchester City are under pressure from Liverpool after they closed the gap to three points on Saturday. City need this game to regain their 6 point advantage for first place and United need this game to keep their European Football dreams alive. Who wants it more?
Last weekend against Watford, Man United played great but they just weren’t clinical in front of goal. I expect City to have most of the ball so when United do get a counter attack chance, they have to finish. They have a series of tough games to follow this and a win at the Etihad could really boost them. I feel they are going to contest City more in this game because they are more healthy and the players are performing better. Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes have been playing some outstanding football and I feel like they’ll be the danger men in this game. Also, Ronaldo will be out in this game due to injury, tells “The Athletic”. That means Rashford might have to step up and play better than he has been playing. This United team today has to be creative and can’t give City too much of the ball. If they do that, United will be faced by constant waves of attack. It’s tough to beat City but if anyone can, it’s their crosstown rivals Manchester United.
Man City barely won last week against Everton but they had most of the chances. Pep Guardiola has made this team such a powerhouse and the way they play just amazes me. Phil Foden has been marvelous for them and has been so clinical as of late in the final third. For City, they have to keep an eye on Bruno Fernandes. In the last few games, he has been the spark and if City give him too much room, he will deliver an outstanding pass. Usually their defense is pretty spot on, but they have to be extra watchful on Fernandes. Man City have a chance to extend the lead for first but they’ll need a strong performance against the Red Devils.
I believe Man City will win this game 3-2 to complete the league double over United. City are playing really well and I just don’t see United taking this game. I feel like the pressure City will build up on United will just make them collapse and give up a couple of goals. United haven’t been clinical enough and they have been wasting their chances lately. It will be a contested game but I feel City will win this Manchester Derby. This game will be televised on USA Network.
