NFL Match Prediction Week 16- Minnesota Vikings vs New Orleans Saints

It is a battle on Christmas. Two teams who know each other very well and have had plenty of drama and action in their games. Two teams who need the playoffs badly for their city. Who will win this time?

Minnesota Vikings vs New Orleans Saints. This game on Christmas Day is a huge game for both these teams. The Vikings just lost by six points to the Chicago Bears and are trying to work their way back to the playoffs. They are on the brink of elimination. The Saints have lost two straight games and might lose the divisional spot to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who play the Detroit Lions this week on Saturday. They have the wild card secured in the bag but might not clinch the division so they need to win this game. These teams have a big rivalry in the playoffs talking about 2018 with the Minneapolis Miracle which led the Vikings to the NFC Championship. In this battle between them both teams don’t have the game changing receivers like previous years. Stefon Diggs from the Vikings who made the miracle for them is now on the Buffalo Bills and Michael Thomas from the Saints who caught two touchdown passes in that game is now on the injured reserve(I.R).

I feel that the Saints can win this game by the score of 31-24. I think that because Drew Brees the Saints quarterback has gotten settled in from last game when that was his first game back from injury. He missed a lot of passes at first but then played better so I think the Vikings defense won’t be able to stop him. On the other side, the Vikings are a high scoring team but they will be contained by the very strong Saints defense. Dalvin Cook the Vikings running back has been having an unstoppable season so I think even the Saints defense can’t prevent him from a hundred yard day. The team is on his back most of the time and he carries them very far. Kirk Cousins the Vikings quarterback throws when he needs to but otherwise it is all Cook. But I wouldn’t say their passing game is bad, in fact it is quite good. They have Justin Jefferson the crazy good rookie and the one who everyone loves Adam Thielen. The pickup of Justin Jefferson was a big influence on the team because when Thielen was injured Jefferson was the number one receiver. He is a really good replacement for Stefon Diggs. The Thielen Jefferson duo is very dangerous so the Saints have to watch out for those guys.

This will not be an easy game for the Saints whereas they’ve lost two straight times in the last two years to the Vikings in the playoffs. Drew Brees will have to make something happen without Michael Thomas. To me, the spotlight is on him. It is a pretty fair and even matchup between these two teams on Christmas. It will be an exciting game in the Superdome and I think it will be a seesaw game. Back and forth, back and forth. Can the Saints end the drought of losing to Minnesota or will the Vikings prevail again to have a hope of the playoffs?
