Manchester United host Aston Villa at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday morning. Both teams claimed victories in their previous game. Villa put on a 2nd half show at Villa Park to win 3-0. Man United won at London Stadium after Lingard’s 89th minute stunner and David De Gea’s amazing penalty save to win 2-1. Villa had a really good 2nd half vs Everton but will be tested vs Christiano Ronaldo’s United at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately for Dean Smith, Leon Bailey is injured which is sad news for Villa fans. He was a sub in that game and in his short time on the field before he got injured, he scored a goal, took an amazing corner which caused an own goal, and gave the fans something to cheer about. He was the man of the match in that game and gave Villa a big spark while he was on the field. In this game, I want to see Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings working really well together and pairing up for a goal. They are two talented strikers and expect good coordination with each other. The offense will have a tough time vs the United defense but have to be creative.
The story is Ronaldo so far for the Red Devils. He has 4 goals in 3 appearances for them and has scored some sweet goals so far. They are 3rd in the league right now and are playing a nice brand of football. Their defense has looked solid and Varane is playing great since coming from Real Madrid. I also think David De Gea reclaimed his spot for United’s top goalie. Man United will play with a lot of confidence in this game after that amazing save. I don’t think Sancho should play and United should play the same lineup that they did vs the Hammers. They created chances, had shots, and were offensively perfect and expect the same against Aston Villa.
I believe Manchester United will win this game 3-0. While I think Man City will lose to Chelsea, I think their neighbors will prevail. United find offense in so many ways which makes it so hard for their opponents. Here are all the options they have.
1- Shaw and Wan-Bissaka add additional attack with their crosses and speed. (They are the wing backs).
2- They have people who control the middle of the field like Pogba and Fernandes who can get assists.
3- They have Ronaldo who’s million stopovers will throw the defender off guard and Mason Greenwood who’s shooting and finishing is world class.
Whenever the opposition stop one way, United will come up with another.
Can Man United stay unbeaten in the league and Ronaldo continue his goal scoring or will Aston Villa spoil the party in front of United’s supporters and upset United? We will find out very soon from Old Trafford on Saturday morning to kick off Matchweek 6.
