One of the most anticipated games of this year and the highlight game of this weekend, Manchester City visit Anfield to take on Liverpool. Merseyside faces Manchester for the second time this weekend as City tries to play spoilers at Liverpool’s home. City are coming off a loss to PSG in the Champions League but their Premier League last 5 games have been dynamite. They’ve taken 13 out of the 15 points they’ve been given and have really bounced back since the 1st game of the season. Liverpool meanwhile, are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and have played extremely well till now. They also crushed Porto 5-1 midweek in the Champions League.
City are coming off a positive win vs Chelsea at Stamford which should boost their confidence. They were better than the blues that entire game and had so many opportunities throughout the whole game. They missed a lot of chances but still prevailed. In that game, they shut down Lukaku and isolated those attackers. They have to try to do the same thing vs Liverpool. They’ll go top of the table if they win today but it will be a tough battle. They can’t give the ball away cheaply and have to be more clinical with their shots in this one.
Liverpool are coming off that scary game vs Brentford which was a 3-3 tie. They had a 2-1 and 3-2 lead in that game but never held the Bees properly. Man City pounces on their opponents’ mistakes so Liverpool can’t do that. They have to be patient and wait for their chance to attack. City have such a talented roster who can shoot the ball and the Reds have to be careful about that. I want to see some good football from Liverpool in this match and expect them to play really well.
I believe Liverpool will win the match by the score of 2-1. In these types of matches, no matter how good both of them are, we are going to have a winner. Pep said the Liverpool crowd doesn’t affect them but it certainly plays a role in Liverpool’s energy. Liverpool are playing with loads of confidence right now and are playing the best in the Premier League till now. They have their fans back and their entire team ready to face the Cityzens.
Two of the best coaches in Europe face off against each other in Matchweek 7 of the Premier League. Can Liverpool continue their unbeaten form and beat the champions or will City upset the 2019 EPL champions on their home turf? We will find out on the 1st Sunday of October at 11:30 EST time from Merseyside.
