PL Match week 27 Preview- Liverpool vs Man United

Two of the big six Premier League clubs face off for the second and last time in the season. Liverpool have had a very mediocre year and it has not been up to their standards while Manchester United have been playing some of their best football. It’s always an entertaining match between these two rivals and it’s a big test for Liverpool at Anfield.

Ten Hag’s team finally have that formidable feel about them. I remember very clearly that last season, they lost 9-0 on aggregate to the Reds last year and this club was in shambles. The turnaround has been incredible and now they are 3rd in the EPL, have won the Carabao Cup, are in the FA Cup quarter finals, and in the Round of 16 in the Europa League. I’ve been really impressed with Alejandro Garnacho recently because of the difference he’s made. He is blossoming into a first team winger and is a super sub. He is not afraid to attack defenses and he will cause all sorts of problems to Trent Alexander- Arnold who is not known for his defensive work. Ten Hag has brought out the best from his players and I would’ve not recognized this team a year back. I love their defense now which finally has stability and they are under less risk. The Red Devils have to defend set pieces well against Klopp’s side and cannot let Liverpool go on the counter attack. Even though United have more points than Liverpool, they can’t underestimate Salah’s team who are very capable of pulling off the upset.

Liverpool earned a crucial 2-0 victory on Wednesday against the Wolves and won that game by scoring two goals late in the 2nd half. The player who has improved the most from the beginning of the season has been Darwin Nunez. He has been playing better, the confidence is there, and his finishing has finally gotten good. To win against this in-form United team, Liverpool have to move the ball quickly and the movement should not be static. We’ve seen beautiful passing and creativity from them over the years and have to use that on Sunday. Additionally, in the previous meeting, Liverpool’s back line was caught out often. It’s been a tough season for their defense and they just have to do the basics right. United will punish on the counter attack and the Reds have to do their best to prevent these chances. They cannot lack off and Liverpool need one of their best performances to win this contest.

Manchester United will win this game 3-1 against their fierce rivals Liverpool. I don’t see a way out for Liverpool and their back line is not good enough currently to contend with United’s splendid forwards. It’s been Liverpool’s Achilles heel this year and they will get exposed defensively. United are bursting with confidence and they are not afraid to play on the edge. I’ve seen improvements from the Reds but they are not at the point yet to pull off the upset against Manchester United. This game is available to watch on USA Network and Telemundo at 11:30 AM on Sunday, March 5th.

This battle renews itself and another fiery clash is in store for us between Man United and Liverpool. Can Manchester United continue their world class form or will Liverpool leave Anfield with a roar to continue their top four hopes? We’ll find out from Merseyside, England very soon.

 THE END
